Baraka’s Transition Team hosts Community Forums
Mayor-elect Ras J. Baraka to hold 6 public forums throughout Newark to enable residents and businesses to submit ideas for planning Newark's future.The Transition Team will be holding 6 public forums to solicit public input into their recommendations for future policies, practices and programs for Newark. At each forum, participants will be given an overview of the transition process and then given the opportunity to share their ideas regarding 16 areas: Budget and Finance; Public Safety; Education; Housing and Economic Development; Departmental Operations; Executive Recruitment; Workforce Development; Training and Re-entry; Independent Authorities; Arts; Cultural Development; and Tourism; Community Engagement; Recreation; Legal Review; IT Initiatives; Public Health; Environment and Sustainability; and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. In addition, each participant will be invited to fill in a survey to submit additional ideas.

Monday: 6/16 Central Ward- Abyssinian Baptist Church. 224 West Kinney St from 6:00- 8:00 pm.Tuesday: 6/17 South Ward- Greater Abyssinian Baptist Church- 88 Lyons Ave from 6:00-8:00pm
Thursday: 6/19 East Ward- Grace Community Lutheran Church- 7 Wilson Ave. from 6:00-8:00pm
Friday: 6/20 West Ward- Unified Vailsburg Service Organization 40 Richelieu Terr. From 6:00- 8:00pm
Saturday 6/21 All General meeting- St. Benedict's Prep School 520 Dr. MLK Blvd From 1-3pm
Monday 6/23 North Ward- Barringer HS, 90 Park St From 6:00- 8:00pm
