Carousel Is Coming to Military Park this Spring
The Military Park carousel, the newest attraction and improvement in downtown Newark, is scheduled to be built on March 28th with an opening in April.
Construction is currently underway as workers are pouring a concrete foundation and doing electrical work to connect the carousel to the park's power grid.
The carousel was built by Carousels and Carvings in Marion, OH and is being shipped to Military Park, where workers are preparing for its arrival. The carousel will contain 16 horses, and was designed to reflect the history of the city—each horse pays tribute to an important horse in Newark history. The entire cost of the $450,000 project was paid by an anonymous donor.
“The carousel is another new attraction that will welcome families to Military Park and downtown Newark, and also educate them about the city’s history,” said Ben Donsky of Biederman Redevelopment Ventures, who also serves as Vice President of the Military Park Partnership, which redeveloped and now operates the park.
The Carousel cost $2 per ride.
