Dalai Lama is coming to Newark

Dalai Lama is coming to Newark in May to give the keynote address at the Newark Peace Education Summit. It is a 3-day event being organized by The Tibet House and by the Drew A. Katz Foundation and hosted by Mayor Booker. Other speakers and leaders include: Deepak Chopra, US Congressman Donald Payne, former gang member Wade Davis, Rutgers professor Dr. Clement Price and others.

The Newark Peace Education Summit will highlight peacemaking as a way for individuals, communities, and nations to resolve conflicts and problems. Through panels and workshops, the summit will present Nobel Laureates, civic leaders, organizations, and scholars and activists, from both Newark and around the country and world, who have used peace and nonviolence to educate youth, to create safe neighborhoods, and more satisfying and fulfilling lives for countless people.

Why Newark?
From the website..."In a world still marked with physical violence and enduring conflict, Newark is a fitting city to convene a community of peace practitioners and advocates and generate a larger, more determined spirit of hope and harmony." Also the Newark Museum's Tibetan exhibit will be celebrating its 100th anniversary!
