After a great weekend of Open Doors last week - we now go into week #2 of Endless Arts in Newark with Dodge Poetry Festival and other great treats from around town.

Dodge Poetry Festival: Kick-off

Day #2 of Dodge Poetry Festival includes NJPAC Jazz for Teens, Amiri Baraka, and lots of choices for "Poets on Poetry," "Conversations", Student Readings and more! See Friday's schedule.

WBGO Kids Jazz Concert
12pm @ Symphony Hall
Jazz & Tap! This performance, presented by WBGO Jazz 88.3FM, will feature musicians along with tap dancer Maurice Chestnut. Chestnut will dance and explain how jazz and tap blend together.

Newark Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, and Bisexual Community Quilt - Illuminating the Past, Building Our Future This multimedia community quilt project organized in collaboration with Newark-based artist Noelle Lorraine Williams is a dynamic mash-up of memorabilia, clothing, words, images, poetry, and memories. This first exhibition and poetry gathering will be an in-progress sharing.

This exciting production is a landmark piece in the African-American literary world as it explored concepts of sexism, feminism, spirtuality and freedom embedded in the lives and struggles of seven women of color whose lives intersect as they tell their stories.

2-5pm: Adult Ceramic Painting Workshop
The art was introduced to Portugal, via Spain, by the Moors, who had learned the craft from the Persians. Learn the traditional Portuguese paint brush techniques such as well tracing to make lighter and darker tones, selection of ceramic (glazed) paints, and instructions for the baking process. Instructor: Sonia Valente
