Free Flu Shots for Residents 2012
UPDATE: Flu shots still available for Newark residents for free. Monday through Friday from 8:30am-4pm at the Newark Department of Child and Family Well-Being at 110 Willian Street.******************************** The City of Newark will provide free influenza vaccinations for Newark residents, throughout the City during September, October, November, and December, starting on Thursday, September 27, 2012. Details of all sites, dates, and times are listed below.
The Mayor urges all pregnant women to get their influenza immunization because influenza infection poses a serious risk during pregnancy. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), changes in the immune system, heart, and lungs during pregnancy make pregnant women more prone to severe illness from flu. Flu shots will protect pregnant women, their unborn babies and even protect the baby after birth.
Residents seeking the flu shot must bring proof of address.
During the months of October, November and December, the Department of Child and Family Well-Being will administer vaccinations at their clinics at 110 William Street, Monday-Friday from 8:30am-3pm.
