From the website:
The Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program is a FREE seven-week introduction to computer science for current 10th and 11th grade students. The program is designed for beginners, which means no previous coding experience is necessary! Additionally, we offer need-based scholarship and transportation stipends for those who qualify.
During the 7 weeks you will:
- Connect code to your passions -- Whether it’s medicine, fashion, or gaming, we’ll teach you how code ties to all industries.
- See coding in action -- Meet female engineers and get an inside look at technical roles in the world’s top companies.
- Join the sisterhood -- Make friendships with a supportive and diverse community of other Girls Who Code alumni.
Daily classroom instruction is paired with related talks, demos, and workshops led by a range of entrepreneurs, CEOs, developers, designers, and computer science majors who act as mentors and role models throughout the program. Field trips to tech giants like Facebook, Twitter, AT&T, Gilt Groupe, Foursquare, and the News Corp allow students to envision a career in the tech industry and build a professional network.
The Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program curriculum is designed to engage young women in computer science in an interactive and collaborative way. Each topic, activity and speaker is chosen to provide participants with tangible skills to use in their schools and communities.
