Global Mala: Barat Foundation
Global Mala (happening this Sunday) is truly a community event. Proceeds of ticket sales and additional donations are split amongst local and needy organizations. See complete list here.
One of the recipients is Newark's own, Barat Foundation, who actively participates in the program as well. The Barat foundation, engages youth through arts and best known for their Animodules and Creation Nation Parade, which showcases their Animodules.
This year as part of Global Mala - they will be creating a wooden cut out of the Global Mala Logo. One side will be painted a solid color for everyone to sign, and the other side will be painted at the event. The above photo is from last year's event where they painted a PEACE banner.
Chandri Barat of the Barat Foundation said this about Global Mala: "Being a part of Global Mala is hard to describe. How can you describe the beauty of hundreds of people moving seamlessly together in a series of salutations to the sun. It's as if we are all part of something much larger, softer, stronger, and more beautiful than we could ever imagine. It just brings out the best in everyone. It's amazing."
If you can't make Global Mala, the creation made on premises this year, will be a part of the Creation Nation Art & Peace Parade scheduled for Sunday, October 21.
