Global Mala NJ 2013
Global Mala NJ returns to Newark on September 22nd at Newark Schools Stadium and continues to grow (see info on 2011, 2012) and grow. It is organized by community yoga organizer, Debby Kaminsky, who runs Newark Yoga Movement and brings yoga into schools, community parks and even to the Newark fire department! If you want to witness a powerfull moment, there's no better view than looking out on an open field with hundreds of outstretched arms reaching for the sky!Below are some additional details for a day of sun salutations, yoga and more!
9am - Mayor Booker to speak and another keynote speaker
9:45am - Sun salutations and yoga poses (for all levels of yogis); kids event runs simultaneously (see below)
12pm - 108 rounds of Om followed by meditation with Tao Porchon-Lynch, 95-year old Master Yoga Teacher.
12:30pm - Eat, Shop, Mingle and Massage
2:15pm - 30minute break-out sessions (family yoga, acro yoga, yoga trance dance)
Kids Mala :
Our kids mala runs concurrently with the adult mala. Children stay with their parents during opening kirtan and keynote speakers and then are taken by their parents to the kids area. Note that all children 7 years and younger must be accompanied by a parent at this event. Besides yoga, there is drumming, karate, and a fun ART project. Children are encouraged to bring their spare change so they can do their part to help with Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund activities.Volunteer:
