Greening Ironbound by TD Greenstreets
Thanks to TD Bank and the Newark Office of Sustainability, trees were recently planted along St. Charles and Rome Streets near the Ironbound Rec Center. This is part of the Newark Greenstreets program, an effort to remove concrete and plant trees throughout the city.
The Newark Sustainability Office and partners plan to plant 2,000 street trees by the end of 2013 through this program. Ironbound is a focus because it has the smallest percentage of green space in the city.
Trees will be planted by the Greater Newark Conservancy and funded through a $20,000 grant.
