HackNWK starts tomorrow
#hackNWK is an initiative of the City of Newark, Brick City Development Corporation, the technology community initiative Build in Brick City, and Audible.com to redesign the City of Newark's website. This event is a part of the National Civic Day of Hacking which is on June 1st. It is a national event that will take place in cities across the nation. The event brings together citizens, software developers, and entrepreneurs from all over the nation to collaboratively create, build, and invent new solutions using publicly-released data, code and technology to solve challenges relevant to their neighborhoods.
Anyone who can code or design websites is encouraged to join, especially in teams. You can sign up at http://www.buildinbrickcity.com/events.html. The City of Newark and Audible.com have each contributed $15,000 for a total prize of $30,000 and a 1-year contract with the city to build and maintain the website you have created.
The details for the website redesign will be posted on June 1st along with the necessary content.
On June 9th there will be an event at Audible.com's HQ from 10am-5pm where all coders can work and present their designs. Mayor Booker will also be there to look at the designs and give comments and advice to all teams before they present to the judges.
