Harvest Table: Serving Newark for 5 Fresh Years
Five Years! Not many can celebrate five years in business. In fact 59% of restaurants don't get past year #3... so Carissa Borraggine of Harvest Table has something to celebrate! Harvest Table is a staple on Halsey Street open for breakfast and lunch - attracting a lunch-time following that craves something delicious and fresh. Borraggine calls Harvest Table a "fresh food oasis."
Everything is made in-house (paninis, wraps, sandwiches, smoothies, salads, soups and sweet treats)- no artificial ingredients - no cold cuts - no red meat. Borraggine created the menu combinations like "The Good Earth" and "High Thai'd," but what really excites her customers is creating their own salads and sandwiches, which are made right in front of them. And if you're craving some sweetness - home-made, fresh baked brownies and cookies await you.
Why Newark? According to Borraggine, "Newark chose me." She was often in Newark as a food distributor sales rep and noticed the lunch crowd out and about with no place to get a healthy meal. Then on one of her downtown trips, there it was - "For Lease."
Although you find Borraggine behind the counter, she loves being a part of the downtown community - attending gallery events, openings, block parties. She's a fan of the new shops that have opened downtown - especially Luxe and Karma Consignment and you can even find her teaching yoga in Lincoln Park at Lotus Yoga.
Harvest Table will be celebrating the Fifth Anniversary all January. Every Friday they will be serving a $5 Special! Tune in to their Facebook page to see what it'll be. Support Harvest Table and stop by to celebrate FIVE Fresh years!
