Harvest Table: Serving Newark for 5 Fresh Years

Five Years! Not many can celebrate five years in business. In fact 59% of restaurants don't get past year #3... so Carissa Borraggine of Harvest Table has something to celebrate! Harvest Table is a staple on Halsey Street open for breakfast and lunch - attracting a lunch-time following that craves something delicious and fresh. Borraggine calls Harvest Table a "fresh food oasis."

Everything is made in-house (paninis, wraps, sandwiches, smoothies, salads, soups and sweet treats)- no artificial ingredients - no cold cuts - no red meat. Borraggine created the menu combinations like "The Good Earth" and "High Thai'd," but what really excites her customers is creating their own salads and sandwiches, which are made right in front of them. And if you're craving some sweetness - home-made, fresh baked brownies and cookies await you.



Why Newark? According to Borraggine, "Newark chose me." She was often in Newark as a food distributor sales rep and noticed the lunch crowd out and about with no place to get a healthy meal. Then on one of her downtown trips, there it was - "For Lease."

Although you find Borraggine behind the counter, she loves being a part of the downtown community - attending gallery events, openings, block parties. She's a fan of the new shops that have opened downtown - especially Luxe and Karma Consignment and you can even find her teaching yoga in Lincoln Park at Lotus Yoga.
