Have You Met Newark

Looking for a quick and fun introduction to Newark? Meet Emily Manz and her tour "Have You Met Newark?" In October 2012, a few months after moving to Newark, Emily started giving tours to friends to combat the negative views people often have when they mention Newark.

Since October, Emily has toured approximately 70 people around town. She takes the group through the streets visiting small businesses, art galleries, public buildings and organizations like Glassroots. The group is generally a mix of friends, friends and family of friends and new acquaintances. Everyone leaves the tour as friends and creates another great connection to Newark.

Emily's favorite part of the tour is the Newark Public Library, where she loves telling people to look up and watching their expressions.

The tours are getting bigger each time too! In August, Emily along with Antonio Vallas (another Newarker) toured 25 tutors that will be living downtown working for a charter school.
