Ironbound Petitions for Dog Park

There's been an explosion of new or renovated parks in Newark in the past few years (first two phases of Riverfront Park, Military Park renovation, renovation of Nat Turner park, and more) but none to-date include a Dog Park or a Dog Run. The closest ones for the 280,000 Newark residents are in Bloomfield and Millburn. Why not have one in Newark? While conversations have been on-going for years, the momentum is really building. A few weeks ago, hundreds of Newark dogs and owners met in the Ironbound for an annual Dog Walk to keep the issue in focus. Participants enjoyed a beautiful day outside as well as free gifts from local pet businesses like the Ironbound Petshop.
