Jersey Express Kick Off Saturday with Smush Parker

This Saturday, November 16th at 5pm, kicks off the 9th season of the Jersey Express (formerly Newark Express). Jersey Express is part of the ABA (American Basketball Association), which has 100+ teams. The team plays at home at Shabazz High School and has 13 home games. Smush Parker, former LA Laker, has just been added to the Jersey Express roster and will suit up this weekend to start the season against North Shore Tide from Boston, MA.

The owner, Marsha Blount, has had a great career in basketball playing and coaching. After meeting the CEO of the ABA, she watched the league and was excited to purchase the Jersey franchise. Since 2005, the team has been moving their "home venue" from place to place around the state. Blount's dream and hope is for Jersey Express to play at "home" in the Prudential Center. "With so many dark nights, ...we can help the arena, get more people employed, help boost the economy, and more... we're just trying to provide a few hours of fun-filled, exciting, family entertainment."
