Let’s Move Olympic Fun Day
For the kickoff of the 2012 Olympic Games held in London - First Lady Michelle Obama has called on families across the nation to support Team USA, by getting active in their own communities. Let's Move! Newark, and Newark residents of all ages will celebrate the national "Let's Move! Olympic Fun Day," with a series of fitness events all day today, Saturday, July 28, 2012. The celebration will commence at 12:30 p.m., with a ceremony and Cheerleading Practice for youth aged 7-13, at Boylan Recreation Center, located at 619 South Orange Avenue, in Newark's West Ward.
A schedule of events follows:
- 11:30am to 12:30pm: Weight Room Activities (Men Only), Rotunda Recreation Center, 75 Clifton Avenue.
- 12:30pm to 1pm: Opening Remarks and Cheerleading Practice (Ages 7-13), Boylan Recreation Center, 916 South Orange Avenue.
- 1:30pm to 2pm: Yoga Session for Families, at St. Peter's Recreation Center, at 378 Lyons Avenue.
- 3:30pm to 4pm: Skateboard Clinic (for youth) and Health and Wellness Pavilion (all ages), 7th Annual Lincoln Park Music Festival, Lincoln Park, 1035-1071 Broad Street.
- 4:30pm to 5pm: Soccer Practice (Youth aged 8-11) with instructors and coaches, Just One Soccer League, Schools Stadium, 450 Bloomfield Avenue.
