Lincoln Park Farms

Lincoln Park Farms

Lincoln Park Community Farm opened last week, July 6th, starting up for its second year. This year, the farm is more dense with a much larger selection and is at a new location on Bleecher behind the old historic church facade (visible from Broad & Clinton).

Every week there is a new selection of fruits, herbs and veggies. The selection is vast and they squeeze a ton into this area with everything from sugar snap peas, collards, cucumbers, potatoes, herbs, cabbage, zucchini, beets, carrots and a ton more. See their complete list.

There are about 10 openings available to be a co-op member for the season - they are hoping to serve 30 families in total. The cost is $20/week and you get a ton for your money - download the application here. If that's too much of a commitment you can take a chance and go in each week - if there is a remaining share you can buy it for $20.

The farm goes to great lengths to make sure it is green and has its own director of sustainability, Robert Wisniewski. There are plants being grown through hydroponics in the greenhouse. The Greenhouse itself was created from items recycled from stores, farms and discarded items. There's even a test area where they are playing with solar energy.

See photos below from our tour with Farmer Brian and Intern, Michelle. Michelle is a Newark resident and student who is passionate about agriculture. What a great place to learn! Stop by LPCF for a share, a tour and even learn how to cook something they grow!
