Live Music Month 2013
Newark was a center for jazz innovation and talent. Newark is the birthplace and home of the great jazz singer Sarah Vaughan. Newark was home to Savoy Records, a jazz record label; had many live music venues like the Grand Hotel, Casa Blanca and the Cadillac Club; and home to jazz station WBGO. Paying homage to Newark's musical past, NewarkPulse.com has brought together venues, musicians and organizations to curate "Newark Live Music Month" for the month of October. We were surprised and excited to have nearly 35 live music performances in October alone. Visit Newark and be a part of it's musical culture!
Live Music Month Highlights
During October, you will find weekly live music at:
- Dinosaur BBQ on Thursdays
- Key Club on Fridays & Sundays
- Martini 494 on Tuesdays
- Tipsy's on Thursdays
You will also find lots of great special programs and activities, such as:
- Free Lunchtime Jazz in the Gateway by WBGO (10/2 at 12pm)
- Great performances at the NJPAC by Smokey Robinson, Kirk Franklin and many more!
- Opening Art Receptions during Newark Art Council's Open Doors offer live music
- WBGO's bi-annual Kids Jazz Series
- NJPAC's free happy hour jazz, counting down to James Moody Democracy of Jazz Festival (more coming soon)
