Mikki Taylor to Keynote at Conservancy Fundraiser

Popular writer, motivational speaker, TV personality and media veteran and born and raised Newarker, Mikki Taylor will deliver the keynote address at Greater Newark Conservancy's City Bloom Luncheon, Wednesday, May 13th at the Mediterranean Manor (255 Jefferson Street) in Newark's Ironbound District. Two special honorees will also be recognized at the luncheon; Arcelio Aponte, Vice Provost for Finance & Administration, Office of the Chancellor, Rutgers University - Newark and Marshall Cooper, President, Municipal Empowerment Consulting and former Director, Department of Neighborhood Services, City of Newark.

The event benefits the Conservancy's Newark Youth Leadership Project (NYLP), a year round program for high school students from Newark and college students from around New Jersey. Through NYLP, Greater Newark Conservancy provides job training and seeks to improve conditions in the urban community by increasing employability and earning potential. Since the NYLP's inception 16 years ago, more than 700 Newark youth have participated in the program with the Conservancy, with many continuing their educations at top colleges and universities and finding successful career opportunities. NYLP's three major goals are development of leadership skills, educational and career enrichment through instruction, tutoring and field trips and development of employment-related skills.

Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with the luncheon starting at 12:00 p.m. and the keynote speaker at 1:00 p.m. To reserve tickets online, visit CityBloom.org, or contact Brian David at 973.642.4646 ext. 16 for more information.
