NCAA comes to Newark
Newark couldn't have asked for a better line-up to come in for March Madness. This week fans, alumni and NCAA fanatics will get to witness: Ohio State vs University of Kentucky and Marquette vs. UNC. Great match-ups!
Newark is geared up to entertain the masses with Go Newark Hoopfest. If you haven't seen the advertising - where have you been - its on buildings, trains, billboards and more!
Thursday 3/24: 12-4pm: Open Practice
Doors open at 11am and teams practice in one-hour blocks.
Thurs-Sun: FanFest @ Championship Plaza
Each day FanFest will include live performances, guest DJ's, basketball games, face painting, tattoos, beer garden, local food vendors and official NCAA merchandise.
Satuday: Brick City Sites & Sounds
All day there are great activities put on by your favorite local venues.
NJ Historical Society - will host children's activities like face painting, touch and play with musical instruments (12-1); Newark School of the Arts performance (2pm); Newark Boys Choras (3pm)
Art Kitchen - will have cupcake decorating, pin-up girl from Hell's Kitchen and ventriloquist April Brucker
East West Gifts - will have pottery making demonstrations outside their store
Glass Roots - will open their studio and showcase glass blowing
Coffee Cave - will have Twisted Expression featuring Katrina Kapor. Lively band and great food.
27 Mix - live music and brunch from 11am-3pm. Enjoy live blues and R&B with Freddy & the Pharoahs
Newark Museum - 12:30-2 Nimbus Dance Works; 2:30 Yopat present's Motown Revue; and 4:30 WBGO presents Antoinette Montague
Newark Public Library - 12-12:40 Lady Rose children's book reading; HipHop Dance Troupe, Zawadi African Dance group
Newark Bears Stadium - 12pm Honey Bears dance team rehearsal and meet & greet, 1pm Mascot and Anthom try-outs; 2pm Meet the bear signing; 2-4pm tour stadium and new suites and silent auction.
