NDD Expands its Area

On February 20, 2013, the Newark City Council voted unanimously in favor of expanding the boundaries of the Newark Downtown District (NDD). The NDD's services will now be provided as far south as City Hall, and north to Route 280. This expansion has been the goal of the NDD for many years. The NDD Street Ambassadors (in the yellow and black) will now be cleaning the streets in these new zones, as well as providing hospitality and other services such as graffiti removal, powerwashing, snow/ice/weed removal, and much more to keep the area well-maintained on a consistent basis.
Other benefits of expanding the District include an increase in foot-traffic, which is beneficial to existing businesses, while also leading to lowered vacancy rates. This surge of activity and energy in the expansion area is a fresh beginning.
