Newark CSA Farm Delivery

Newark CSA Farm Delivery

CSA is Community Supported Agriculture which has become very popular especially in urban communities. Here are the basics: a farmer offers a certain number of "shares" to the public. Typically the share consists of a box of vegetables, but other farm products may be included. Interested consumers purchase a share (aka a "membership" or a "subscription") and in return receive a box (bag, basket) of seasonal produce each week throughout the farming season.

Yes there is one here - CSA Newark - started by two residents - Alyson Schacherer and Evelyn Kalka. Alyson had found a CSA in Montclair, where they belonged for 3 years. Alyson and Evelyn wondered if there would be enough interest to have a pick-up site in Newark. Last year CSA Newark was born with 17 shares coming to Newark weekly.

If you'd like to participate in the 2012 season - they are accepting memberships. Here is the form.
