Newarker to take Students to London
Newark native and Technology High grad, Madeline Boughton, is taking Newark high school students abroad to London, England next month for Spring Break. Madeline attempted a crowdfunding campaign to fund the trip for the students but yielded only $2000. She ended up using her retirement 401k to pay for the rest of the airfare and hotel fees.Madeline has had her passport since the age of 14 and has many passport stamps to show for her love of travel. She wants the students to experience a piece of that with this trip. The group will be spending spend three days at Fairleigh Dickinson University's Wroxton College, visiting Shakespeare's birthplace and Blenheim Palace. Madeline herself spent a semester herself at Wroxton, while pursuing her degree at Fairleigh Dickinson. The remainder of the time will be in London sightseeing, visiting museums and taking a tour of Parliament.
This Friday (3/13), the dean of Wroxton College will be visiting Newark and meeting the selected students and their families. The event will be at Essex County College (303 University Ave) from 6-8pm. Donations will still be accepted at the event and they are looking to purchase luggage for the students as well if you'd like to purchase some for them.
