Open Doors: Call for Artists & Curators

The Newark Arts Council Open Doors Studio Tour 2012 will take place on October 4-7, 2012. Open Doors is a 4-day arts tour and community event that is the kick-off to a month long city-wide celebration of Newark, New Jersey's diverse and celebrated contribution to the arts and American culture. This year, Open Doors will extend over the weekends through October 21st with the addition of the Dodge Poetry Festival and the new James Moody Jazz Festival.

CALL FOR ARTISTS:

The Newark Arts Council seeks to provide an exhibition opportunity for artists of all skill levels and disciplines during the Open Doors Studio Tour. We will be designating an exhibition location for these artists to show their work and appointing an experienced regional curator (to be named) to jury the work and prepare selected works for exhibition. The completed registration form is due on Monday, July 16th by 5pm.

CALL FOR CURATORS

This year we will be choosing two (2) proposals that will be provided a space for exhibition. Funding is not guaranteed. This is an Open Call for proposals from curators to create themed shows in open, raw spaces located in a concentrated area of arts activity in Newark. These shows will be on view through the month of October. Spaces will be prepped and ready for installation on or around Monday, August 27, 2012. Submit your proposal including theme, title, a 250-word clear description of the exhibition you plan to organize to [email protected]. Read through this document prior to submitting.
