Painting for Peace

Newark has its share of murals, but the one currently going up in Lincoln Park (105 Lincoln Park) is different. It's the largest mural collaboration in Newark's history with over 500 student and volunteer painters! The mural was painted on 5' x 5' panels at over 10 Newark Schools and at the Barat Foundation at 765 Broad Street.

The PEACE Mural is timed to greet Nobel Laureates, His Holiness, the XIVth Dalai Lama, Dr. Shirin Ebadi, and Jody Williams, and the Newark Peace Education Summit, which starts Friday. The mural will be unveiled and celebrated today at 4pm. Also there will be Sunrise Yoga on Friday at 7am with Mayor Booker and Newark school children.
