Peddle Farm in Lincoln Park

Peddle Farm in Lincoln Park

Pedal Farm Overview: The group has been gardening by the intersection of Washington and Crawford Streets for a few years now, which is called Pedal Farm. This year the group invited Victoria, a grad student from the New School, to add her ideas to the mix. There's lots of horticulturally exciting things going on there, including a container garden that grows fresh herbs and veggies, a new year-round community worm composting system, a hugelkultur bed, and mushroom logs.

Lincoln Park Community Compost Pilot: If you would like to participate in the Lincoln Park Community Compost Pilot - the requirements are: Collect food scraps (no oil, no dairy, no meat, no citrus peels) and drop off at Pedal Farm once a week...or more or less. Store food scraps in freezer, fridge, or closed bucket. Coffee grinds, leafy vegs, banana peels, etc are all yummy worm food and will make terrific compost! Participants receive free local compost in return. Only 12 households will be accepted for now. For more info, contact victoriapetrovsky@gmail.com.

Volunteer with Peddle Farm: Tree planting day on April 12th will start at Pedal Farm. Tree planting takes place from 9-12, and then there is a bike ride at 2 pm to Branch Brook Park for the cherry blossom fest. Another day is April 22, Earth Day. Many volunteers will be needed with a possible tropical pop performance by Santiago 'Axel' Mejia (details coming soon).

People are welcome to come check out our urban vermicomposting system on Saturdays between 3-7. They can call, 973 704 5939, write victoriapetrovsky@gmail.com, or sign up for the facebook group if interested in composting or garden.
