Penn Station Portraits
Elzbieta Kaciuba is a local photographer from Bloomfield who's been working on a personal project for about a year. She's been shooting some images of the homeless that reside near Newark Penn Station. The idea of this project came about as not to show the negative side but as street portraits of people, the human faces that we at times look away from.
Elzbieta says, "I've always cared about people that live in certain situations... I feel like these people have given me a gift, a glimpse into their lives and I hope these images can portray the genuine emotions that these people have shared with me... I am honored..."
Some people shared their stories with Elzbieta and some just allowed her to be a part of their space in the street, their home. "When I look at these street portraits I see beauty, strength, emotions, and the human nature to live... and that is what I wish when one views these images can see and feel... not just another Homeless Person."
Here are a few on her favorite images from this project.
