Photos: Global Mala 2012

After the downpours of Saturday night, the sun greeted hundred of yogis and non-yogis Sunday for Global Mala NJ. This gathering was one of the largest and even the founder, Shiva Rea, was present at Newark Schools Stadium. Many suburban yogis who made the trip to Newark were disappointed to not find Mayor Booker in attendance, but instead a pre-recorded message.

The large group chanted "OM" 108 times and then proceeded to sun salutations. Several people took the mic to lead the crowd, including a Shabazz football player, who was introduced to yoga through the Newark Yoga Movement.

Children had an itinerary of their own which included painting with the Barat Foundation, drum circle with Joni Wellness, kids yoga and much more.
