Raymond Boulevard Becomes Two Lanes
Raymond Boulevard has gone from three-lanes to a two-lane artery between Chapel Street and Somme Street in the City's East Ward starting this past, Friday, May 3. The city is making this change in response to the New Jersey Department of Transportation's "Raymond Boulevard Pedestrian Access Improvement Study," which called for the lane reduction as a measure to enhance safety, improve the quality of life, on the boulevard and improve pedestrian access to the new City Riverfront Park and the existing Essex County Riverfront Park. The old third lane has been converted into a bicycle lane to connect the neighborhood and riverfront parks. See map below.
