Riverfront Park in Ironbound

Today (August 2nd), Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. along with Governor Chris Christie and many other city and community representatives broke ground for the future Riverfront Park in the Ironbound.

Riverfront Park is a 12.33-acre property and is set to open in a year. It will include:
- entry from Oxford, Freeman and Brill Streets
- Soccer/Football/Lacrosse turf field
- 3 Paved courts for Tennis or Volleyball
- Little League/Softball Field
- Picnic Grove
- Esplanade with outdoor exercise equipment
- Children's Play area
- Walking paths

Contractors awarded the project are:
- Hatch Mott MacDonald - Millburn - $375,000 (design park)
- Applied Landscape Technologies - Montville - $7,595,179 (construction)
