Science Park Learning Community

Science Park Learning Community

Councilman Darrin Sharif, the representative for the Central Ward, has partnered with Newark Public Schools and their magnate Science Park High School (260 Norfolk Street), to develop The Learning Community (TLC) to offer a variety of courses. The Learning Center will be available for city-wide residents, aged 12 years and older.

TLC will offer courses ranging from the practical, such as Computer Literacy and Financial Management, to those with a social connection, such as Chess and Dancing. There will also be classes that deal with holistic wellness, ranging from the more stringent exercise of Kaborobics to the more soothing practices of Yoga.

Classes will be held at Science Park High School on Saturdays throughout 4 different sessions, beginning in January and ending in June.
Session 1: Jan 14 - Feb 18
Session 2: Feb 25 - Mar 31
Session 3: April 7 - May 12
Session 4: May 19 - Jun 23

If you have a special talent, skill or gift you would like to volunteer, they are looking for volunteers. Call 973-733-5870 and speak with Brett Dawson.

Councilman Sharif hopes to open a Learning Community at every school in the Central Ward over the next three years.
