Smoke Free Zones Expand to Parks and More
We'll be seeing these signs (above pictured: Greater Newark Conservancy) more around town and be able to breathe easier thanks to a new municipal ordinance that was signed into law yesterday. The law bans smoking within municipal parks and recreation facilities and within 50 feet of a municipal building's entrance, exit, windows, or ventilators. The ordinance signed by Mayor Baraka also expands the definition of smoking to include hookahs and electronic cigarettes.
