Streets to be Repaved

The City of Newark received a $1.35 million Municipal Aid Grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation, which will be used to re-pave 10 streets in all five wards, in the year 2013. A list of streets being re-paved is given below.

Newark was one of 22 Essex County municipalities to receive grants under the $76.1 million statewide allotment. Some 374 grants were awarded to communities across New Jersey. Newark received the largest grant of any municipality. Only Jersey City, at $1.1 million, received a grant for more than $1 million. Re-paving will commence in the summer of 2013, in an order to be determined.

Streets being repaved are:
Central Ward: South 19th Street from 18th Ave to 14th Ave
Central Ward: 17th Ave East from Irvine Turner and Bergen Street
East Ward: Ferry Street from Lentz Ave to Blanchard St
East Ward: Mulberry St from Raymond Blvd to Market St
North Ward: Beaumont Ave from Grafton Ave to Verona Ave
North Ward: Degraw Ave from Grafton Ave to Verona Ave
South Ward: Madison Ave from Clinton Ave to Tracy Ave
South Ward: South 19th St from Springfield to 18th Ave
West Ward: North 6th St from West Market to Orange St
West Ward: South 13th St from Central Ave to Gould Ave
