Super Summer Kickoff

Today (July 5th) the City of Newark will be launching "Super Summer" - the city's summer initiatives - at Riverfront Park from 11am-2pm.

In attendance will be Newark native and HBO star, JD Williams. Mr. Williams was born and raised in Newark and graduated from Arts High School. During the ceremony, he will give motivational remarks to Newark youth.

Today there will be:
- Basketball clinics hosted by the Malcolm X Shabazz Girls Basketball Team and the Central Ward-based Next Level community youth basketball team
- Soccer clinic by the Red Bulls Street team
- baseball clinic by Newark Bears players
- a rock-climbing wall provided by the New Jersey Army National Guard
- National Org of Professional Organizers will be giving out 300 pairs of sandals
- CityPlex12 will give away 200 movie coupons
- Plus Adult line dancing, flag football, badminton, frisbees and more free giveaways
