TedxBroadStreet 2013 Coming November 2
Coming November 2, is Newark's first city-wide TEDxBroadStreet with theme of "Reach, Rise and Revive." Twenty-five speakers and artistic performances will give Newarkers the opportunity to stimulate dialogue and create positive grass roots change on a variety of topics critical to the revitalization and sustainability of the city.The topics that will be discussed were generated by a volunteer based group of Newark residents and influencers. The seven topics are: The Newark Brand, Economic Inclusion and Buy Local, Community Healing, Sustainable Neighborhoods, Healthy Food Access, Youth Empowerment, and Women in Leadership. Among the list of speakers are Ron Beit, the visionary developer behind Newark's Teachers Village project, Vincent Vittorio and Nathaniel Thomas McGill, producers of acclaimed manufacturing documentary American Made, Darnell L. Moore, LGBTQ Youth advocate and co-creator of YOU Belong, the first-ever sports camp for LGBTQ youth, and Marilyn "Penny" Joseph, Vice President, Community Relations and Corporate Outreach Programs, Panasonic Corporation of North America.
