Walk to the River Day 2016

June 4: Walk to the River & River Day

Meet the active citizens of Newark at City Hall, make a sign and walk to the Riverfront chanting and singing songs! Riverfront Park will then be alive with performances, music, fitness classes and so much more. Make a day of it with the whole family.

Lower Broadway Live 2016

June 4: Lower Broadway Live

Lower Broadway launches a new monthly series bringing to life Lower Broadway first Saturdays of the month. This first month will be a Latin Dance Party. The first hour will be a dance tutorial by Smiling David's Dance Studio.

Newark Fire Muster and Parade

June 5: Fire Muster & Parade

The streets of downtown Newark will be painted red with fire trucks new and old parading. Newark Firefighters Pipe and Drum Band will be on-site and children (both young and old) can inspect fire trucks and pose for pictures after the trucks take their place on Washington Street.

Free trekker classes

June 7-21: TreeKeeper Classes

Work on your green thumb with three TreeKeeper Classes put together by the NJ Tree Foundation. Classes are FREE for Newark residents and will take place at the Weequahic Park Field House. Learn Basic Tree Biology, Tree Planting and Pruning, and learn about the Watershed. Take all three and become a Newark Certified TreeKeeper!
