Weequahic Park Celebrates Arbor Day

Last year Weequahic Park Sports Authority, NJ Tree Foundation, and Essex County collectively planted 150 trees within Weequahic Park due to loss of 240 trees from Super Storm Sandy which devastated many of Weequahic Park's historical areas that was originally designed by the prominent Olmsted Brothers (Pioneers of Architectural Park Designs). This year, for Arbor Day to promote healthy tree growth, several newly planted trees in Essex County's Weequahic Park historical oval were treated with mulch by Newark outstanding community stewards.
