Whole Cities Foundation Newark Grant Application Now Open
Registered 501(c)3 nonprofits serving Newark communities and adults are invited to apply for the Whole Cities Foundation Fresh, Healthy Food Access Grant. The one-time grant can be used for purchases and expenses that will help ensure the mid- to long-term success of food access projects and must represent less than 40% of the organization’s total annual budget.

The foundation will offer funding between $5,000 and $15,000 to each selected organization and hopes to support projects in all five wards. Grant winners will be announced in early February 2018.
This spring, Whole Cities Foundation, a nonprofit established by Whole Foods Market, awarded grants to eleven Newark organizations, totaling $141,000, in conjunction with the grand opening of the Whole Foods Market Newark store. The 2017 winners were: Al'Maidah Organic Community Garden, Aldine Street Community Garden, Bedrock Gardening Solutions, Center for Court Innovation Newark Community Solutions, Elegant Bouquet Kitchen, Garden of Worker Bees, International Youth Organization, Newark Science and Sustainability, Planting Seeds of Hope, Rabbit Hole Farm and Unified Vailsburg Services Organization. Fresh, Healthy Food Access Grant applications are due by 11:59 pm CST on Monday, December 4th, 2017. Applications can be completed on the Whole Cities Foundation website, www.wholecitiesfoundation.org.
