WoofStock & Hell’s Kitchen Anniversary

This Saturday, June 23rd Hell's Kitchen Lounge hosts its 2nd annual Woofstock event to directly benefit the Newark NJ Animal Shelter. It also marks Hell's Kitchen Lounge's 5 year anniversary! Woofstock is an all day block party (on Bruen St. btw Lafayette and Green St.) that features 15 Bands, 4 Djs, Food, Vendors and a chance to meet your next canine companion. The free, outdoor portion will kick things off at 1pm till 9pm when they close down the street. The inside portion begins at 8pm inside Hell's Kitchen Lounge where 5 bands will perform for a $5 cover.
The block party is family and pet friendly with hopes to attract animal lovers from all areas. A group of volunteers better known as "Friends of Newark NJ Animal Shelter" regularly donate their time and effort to show these poor, unwanted dogs a little love by taking them out for walks, donating food and most importantly finding them homes. Last year, 8 dogs were adopted and they raised over $1500 with hopes to double that this year. Visitors can come and meet up to 15 dogs between the hours of 1-4pm where Volunteer handlers will let you interact with our furry friends. Guests can also make food, toy and monetary donations to directly support the shelter.

Hell's Kitchen's 5th Anniversary
As mentioned, it's also Hell's Kitchen's 5th Anniversary, which is quite an accomplishment! Here are the words of Kelly Moraes, one of the owners on why they are so successful and what's to come!
"I attribute the success of Hell's Kitchen to our ability to be innovators in the Newark Restaurant scene. We pushed the envelope with our decor, our ability to attract a professional and eclectic staff that truly loves where they work and what they do.
My husband and I have significant experience in outside markets. We have worked in Hoboken, New York and Abroad. We brought a little bit of what we loved about all of these places and added what we personally loved and wanted to see, hear and how and what we wanted to be served.
We have also become known for our over the top events. We like to have that "Wow" factor when our guests attend our events and I think we achieve that. Whether it is our now infamous Halloween parties or the fact that we professionally choreograph shows utilizing our very own staff, we carefully plan and put into motion all of our ideas.
Another thing my husband and I do is give back to the community. We believe this should be an important part of any business. Two of our major benefactors are the local art galleries and the big event we throw every year is Woofstock. A great, well attended event that we throw to benefit the Newark Animal Shelter. The shelter brings down the dogs that are in most need of saving and we have a beautiful outdoor rock concert with over 15 bands and an adoption event. We connect people with their new best friends, raise money for the shelter, collect donations of food and toys and have a truly feel good event.
We are very grateful to be celebrating our 5th year anniversary this month and we would love to thank our wonderful staff and our loyal guests for making Hell's Kitchen Lounge the very special place it has become. As for the next 5 years, remember I mentioned that "wow" factor?"
