Xfactor Taping in Newark

If you were at any of the tapings yesterday of Fox and Simon Cowell's new show, the X-Factor, you were privy to the "reality" of these shows.

Although the real auditions took place in April with over 20,000 people showing up. Yesterday and today are the tapings of the show that actually goes on air in the fall. These contestants were selected in April that were either great or outrageously bad to perform for a live audience of 4-5000. Many contestants came out with what seemed like rehearsed scripts and knowledge of how the judges would act.

You could also tell who would be moved forward because those contestants were filmed and interviewed outside as if they were standing on line for hours. The set-up and the judging panel looks and feels almost exactly as American Idol. The panel for the New Jersey taping consisted of Simon, Paula Abdul (re-united again), Nicole Scherzinger (from Pussycat Dolls) and the record producer, LA Reid (who found Paula Abdul).

Regardless, the live audience enjoyed both the talented and the horrible. People traveled to Newark from all over the tri-state and even Indiana.
